Weald and Wen -- the Lady's Shadow
Atop a crystalline hillock, gray-blue fur speckled violet by the Shimmerwoods tempered light; Faerai’s wide eyes probed the flush leaves of its translucent canopy. Grateful to be out of the cramped tunnels and away from their gloomy shadows, she searched the lofty layers and mottled light of the leaves for a hint of a brighter shadow. A grander shadow, one promised by Full Bright’s glare.
Splotches of redder pinks led her, squinting, around the searing curve of the Lady’s Heart—a curve that dominated the hidden sky, too broad to see beyond—and there she spied it. Or, rather, a hint of it; a dark silhouette, the silhouette, its pinks bruised darker than the rest. And in that hint burned the promise of more, of a resting shape that had been guessed and carved and painted…but never seen.
Faerai squeaked, her flopped ears standing tall. She had found it, the Lady’s shadow, tossing and turning beneath the feardreams of the Bright—a good omen and a fine start to any harvest.

Ok, let’s rotate another aos thought
FW!Coulson has a daughter in it, much like Mack had Hope. Yes, Hope was actually real and Mack did lose her, but for sake of RotTM let’s just say it was Coulson’s ideal world or whatever and he gets his own kid
Now. Imagine the turmoil that man would be in. We know the heart that he has. We know how much he loves. And for him, in FW mindset, to be the typical nerdy school teacher with his daughter whom he obviously loves. His students know her. Sometimes she helps him grade their work. She is his entire world, especially since he doesn’t have a wife or any other kids. It’s just them
And then, as in canon, Daisy shows up. She gives him her 4x16 spiel and he knows her. Somehow, he knows her. Her name rings a bell. Her voice. There’s a phantom presence in his shoulder that he can’t quite shake, but boy is it familiar
To Coulson, Daisy obviously loves him. He obviously means more to her than he could possibly understand. He’s her family, she said so. He’s who she goes to when things get heavy
But he has his own kid.
And then everything starts to happen. He joins the Resistance, but the team starts dropping the truths. “The framework isn’t real” “Hope isn’t real” “(she) isn’t real, Coulson”
Oh, but she feels real. His love for her is real. Her voice and her hugs and the way she looks like him are very much real. She’s his blood, of course she’s real. Of course their family is real
So what becomes the choice? Follow Daisy, who’s name was the only one he remembered? Follow Jemma? Follow May who he obviously has a deja vu moment with? Follow the pull of his family that he didn’t even know he had, but the feeling that burns under his fingertips when he’s around them?
Stay with his daughter? His own blood? To continue in the most important job of his life—raising his child? Even if that means being erased from existence, in the world he thought was his own, and the one that is his own?

I think that one thing people fail to understand is that unsolicited literary criticism coming from an online stranger who is reading with no knowledge of what the authors intended goal is, is not going to be received the same as say: the authors beta reader or friends who know what the authors intended goal and has the sufficient knowledge and input to help the author reach that desired outcome.
"But I'm only trying to be helpful" How do I know you have the knowledge and literary skill for you to be able to actaully do that when we don't know each other and you are essentially a stranger to me? Are you applying this criticism based out of personal biased experience and desire to see the story or characterization be driven in another direction or tweaked, or do you know the author's intentions for the character? If the story is incomplete, are you basing your criticism of a character on the incomplete narration with only partial information available of them or are you building up a report until the story's completion? Did the author provide you with the information needed to make a fully informed criticism?
Have you discussed with the author what their plans are or are you assuming them based off the narration, especially if the narration is proven or implied to be unreliable or missing key points of the plot? Are you unbiased enough to help them reach their desired outcome for the characters and story regardless of your personal feelings towards the characters/antagonists and setting? Can you handle being told your specific input isn't wanted because you're a reader and/or have no written anything relating to their genre or topic? Do you understand and respect that the author's personal experiences might influence their writing and make it different than how you would have done it personally? Do you understand if an author only wants input from a specific demographic relating to their story?
If it's for fanfiction or other hobby media, are you holding a free hobby to a professional standard? Are you trying to give criticism because you feel like the author has produced 'subpar job performance' of their fic? Are you viewing their work as a personal intimate outlet or something that must conform with mass media? Are you applying rules and guidelines when the fic is shared for simple sharing sake? Is your criticism worded appropriately and focused on the parts where the author has requested input on rather than a general dismissal and or disapproval?
Have you put yourself in a place where you assumed you have the input needed for the story to evolve better, or have you asked what the author needs and what they're having trouble with? Can you handle having your criticism rejected if the author decides their story doesn't need the change and not take it as a personal offense against your character? Are you crossing that boundary because you think you are doing the author a favor? Are you trying to be helpful, or do you just want to be?
I think sometimes when people hear authors go 'please don't give me unsolicited writing advice or criticism' they automatically chalk it up to 'this author doesn't want ANY constructive feedback on their stuff at all' and not "i already have trusted individuals who will help me with my writing goals and- hey i don't know you like that, please stop acting so overly familiar with me'
#small rant brought to you by: listened to my younger sibling's friend be very upset today because an original story she wrote gets bashed#the story itself is fine maybe a little fast paced but overall she was happy with it's progress#and there is this one dude who keeps trying to tell her that her story needs to go another direction to 'make sense' and it changes the end#after she's repeatedly explained she's happy with the outcome and does not want to expand on that plot point any further#dude says she's 'unreceptive to criticism' no dude you're just being a dick#constructive criticism helps the AUTHOR reach THEIR intended goal#not steer the story in the direction a reader wants to see it go#sara shush#pls don't reblog with any 'but i take unsolicited criticism all the time' this isnt about you. your boundary is not other people's boundary

lived my whole life in guilt bc i thought i was responsible for people's feelings. newly realizing that other people are responsible for their feelings and reactions, even if they make it seem like i'm the problem. a lot of the time it really has to do w them and their own emotional regulation. i can't keep thinking i'm not allowed to have space bc of other people's insecurities. like i literally refuse to dim myself. other people are responsible for their feelings just as i'm responsible for mine.
#like i'm always gonna operate from a place of kindness but i've had to deal w so many people who're bad at communication/confrontation#which led me to think i'm the problem#that i deserve to be given the silent treatment or dismissed disregarded belittled etc#that's j not true. i'm far from perfect but i think so few people deserve that kind of reaction. and my biggest revelation is i do not#even if people want to make me think i do / that their reaction is justified / that i'm a burden etc#my biggest problem is i humor people like this for too long bc it's been normalized behavior to me#does this make any sense to anyone. it's the end of the year and i'm reflecting on so many things#p

“WTNV walked so [insert whatever media] could run” no. WTNV did not walk, it was fucking running marathons while other media was crawling on the ground gasping for air. it’s still running and the world needs to catch up
#welcome to night vale#astrid speaks#i resent the implication that this podcast with a beautifully written m/m couple at its heart was like. a stepping stone#instead of something that can still blow most other ‘rep’ out of the water#does this make sense? probably not#wtnv > your fave any day

the obsession with aesthetic-izing everything is a disease that companies have sold us via influencers. it's all about turning your private space into a perfect backdrop for videos and photos, everything has to be a soundstage to market a product. making you view your own private space like a voyeur, already imagining the comments people might leave if your home isn't what they deem ideal. your fridge does not need to be aesthetically pleasing, you don't need to empty out spices from plastic packaging into a glass jar of the exact same size of the original packaging. not everything has to be pinterest goals. there is so little time, just live life.
#🦌#does this make any sense? who knows#there is a difference between making a place look nice and making a place look marketable. which is what is happening most of the time

maybe the term “antisemitism” seems “overused” because theres so much of it
#just a thought#though i wont lie and say there are not tons of jewish people who also do throw the word around at genuine criticism#or generally just incorrect circumstance#but the word has also been thrown around a lot recently because it HAS been and IS a bigger issue now#we shouldnt be reaching a point goyim are “hearing it too much” and its “weightless” at all just bc theres a lot of jewish ppl misusinf jt#bc there should never be a point in time in which antisemitism (or any other form of bigotry) doesnt hold weight to you idk#does this make sense#jumblr#jewblr#im ali

despite Laios low self esteem making him think that if he’d been eaten, Chilchuck and Marcille wouldn’t have helped Falin,
theres a small part of me that thinks the reason Chilchuck stayed with the party and went back in the dungeon in the first place was because he didn’t want to leave Laios alone. That Laios was moreso the reason he stayed.
#dungeon meshi#chilaios#OK SORRY. THE DEMONS. I REALLY DID NOT WANT TO LIKE THIS PAIRING. I DIDNT. BUT. HHH. FHFHJFJV. I FEEL CRAZY. LET ME EXPLAIN.#Pre canon it seems Laios is the person Chilchuck is really the closest to#He gets along with Namari and they are probably way better as buddies than he and Laios but#He and Laios seem *closer*#If that makes sense#Laios calls him his first name enough and without any issue or hesitation from Chilchuck#That I sort of inagine its not like. A misunderstanding. Laios is on a first name basis with him for a reason.#He also worries probably more than anyone about Laios#And his biggest criticism of him is that hes “reckless”#he’s comfortable around Laios in a very specific way and so is Laios around him#and in the series he shows many times that he’ll risk his life to protect Laios#Like staying with him to confront the elves because he was worried Laios would say something stupid#Hes the first one to run up to him when Falin punches him#I mean I think he was also going back for Falin like its not like I think he doesn’t care about her or anything#He clearly does#But I don’t know if he’d have gone back if Laios hadn’t#And if Laios had been eaten I think he wouldn’t have even had to be convinced by Falin#I also think Marcille would’ve gone back for him but probably more bc Falin was going back#Like sort of a reversed thing#AGAIN not that I don’t think she cared about Laios at the beginning either#But she before the story she was mostly Falin’s friend who knew Laios through Falin#She only really got to know him when Falin got eaten and they had to do a team building exercise#Though now I sort of want to see an actually reversed scenario#Bc we also know that Chilchuck is sort of uncomfortable around Falin (said in relationship chart)#So I would love to see them be forced into a team building exercise to find a person they both love the way Laios and Marcille were
